In this blog post, I will be talking about the heroes involved in the tragic event which occurred on September 11, 2001.

Below is a quote by a firefighter who risked his life to help others on the dangerous day known as 9/11.

“Numerous civilians in all stairwells, numerous burn victims are coming down. We're trying to send them down first... We're still heading up.” - Capt. Patrick Brown

Read a short response of mine to the poem The Dead of September 11th written by Toni Morrison.

The Heroes of September 11

This poem written by Toni Morrison outlines how people should put their differences aside and come together to remember that life is short and we never know when our last day on earth will be. With our one opportunity of life, we must take advantage of everyday and not have any regrets when we pass away.

Not knowing when their last day was, many people went to work that morning and were sadly killed during the incident on September 11, 2001. People were in desperate need of help and in this very desperate time, many firefighters were willing to risk their lives to help those in the building. Many firefighters went into the building to help strangers who were trapped and nearing death.

Similar to other heroes, their actions also came with a cost. Many had to pay the concequence to help others involved. These firefighters who went into the building are proven heroes for their willingness to help others and risk their life doing so. Their bravery and unselfishness should never be forgotten and should be admired by all around the world.
